Marina Vela partners with the Upside Down Challenge

The initiative aims to swim the entire Catalan coast from north to south to raise funds for research into the disease.

Since last September 17, the Upside Down Challenge, a charitable initiative seeking to raise awareness of ALS and raise funds for research into the disease, has set out to cover the route from Portbou to Les Cases d’Alcanar: 24 consecutive days of swimming, more than 400 km parallel to the coast, over 120 hours in the water, and more than 200,000 strokes for ALS.

All funds raised will go to Tricals (World largest Network to Cure ALS), the European organisation that brings together the world’s largest network of ALS centres. 25 countries and a total of 63 research centres united to develop treatments and clinical trials by connecting patients, research centres and pharmaceutical companies.

Marina Vela thus joins the other 18 ports in Catalonia that are providing logistical support at the various strategic stops throughout the crossing.
