The FNOB BASE MINI REGATTA – MARINA VELA BARCELONA TROPHY concludes with the same winner as in 2020. Fede Waksman and Diego Stefani’s Like Crazy crossed the finish line in front of Marina Vela Barcelona yesterday, Tuesday, at 11:55:57 AM, thus the vessel repeated last year’s first-place finish.

After the stop in the Balearic Islands, Like Crazy steadily gained positions until passing Dragonera, where it was already leading the fleet. Rudi Van Velzen and Mathieu Damerval’s PROTO Siren alternated positions with Like Crazy for a few hours, but from that point, Fede Waksman increased his lead until the end of the regatta.

Just over an hour behind Like Crazy, in second place, arrived Candidate Sailing Team, led by Christian Kargl and Lisa Berger, who also led the regatta at times during the first part. In third place and first PROTO was Siren, by Rudi Van Velzen and Mathieu Damerval, less than two hours behind the first-place finisher.

It is worth noting that the Race Directorate’s decision to stop the fleet for a few hours in the port of Sa Ràpita was highly successful, despite the logistical complications it entailed, which were impeccably resolved by the Club Nàutic de Sa Ràpita team. The fleet thus avoided the harshest wind and sea conditions, and took advantage of a 15-knot south-southwest wind that, after Dragonera, propelled the boats at good speed towards Barcelona, albeit with considerable swell in the first third.

The awards ceremony took place this Tuesday, a few minutes after the last participant arrived. Fernando Gayá, Director of Marina Vela Barcelona, presented the trophies to the winners of each category, which consisted of a delightful food basket with typical Barcelona products. Port Vell, for its part, presented them with a reproduction of the Mirastel, the floating sculpture located in Port Vell, next to Maremagnum. And Helly Hansen, also sponsoring the regatta, and Base Mini Barcelona, presented the top three in each category with a personalized sports bag featuring the Base Mini Barcelona logo.
