Rolex TP52 World Championship

Campeonato Mundo TP52 Marina Vela

Marina Vela Barcelona and the Club Náutico de Vilassar will host the Rolex TP52 World Championship Barcelona 2023, from 21st to 26th August

The 52 SUPER SERIES 2023 circuit will be held in the same waters where the America’s Cup will take place, and will bring together ten teams of seven nationalities, who will compete for the TP52 class world crown in the Rolex TP52 World Championship Barcelona 2023.

The facilities of Marina Vela Barcelona and the experience in organising sporting events of the Club Náutico de Vilassar have joined forces to organize the Rolex TP52 World Championship Barcelona 2023, the TP52 class world championship, which is being held for the first time in Barcelona. The event is the fourth one in an annual circuit that this season has visited Saint-Tropez in May, Scarlino in June and Menorca in July, and will end in Puerto Portals, Mallorca, in September.

The circuit arrives in Barcelona with the provisional leader of the classification of the Turkish team Provezza, followed by the German team Platoon and the American team Quantum Racing powered by American Magic.

The 52 SUPER SERIES has established itself as the world’s leading monohull grand prix regatta circuit, in which TP52 class yachts compete, and they are coming to Barcelona to compete in the same waters where next year’s America’s Cup will take place.

Alberto García, Director of Marina Vela, thanks the 52 SUPER SERIES for having chosen Marina Vela Barcelona to hold this event, which represents a new boost to the unconditional support of the Marina’s sailing activity, as a traditional and family leisure alternative committed to the care of the privileged natural environment.

For Jesús Majem, President of the Club Náutico Vilassar de Mar, being the organising club strengthens its leadership in the organisation and participation of important nautical and sporting events, with the Rolex TP52 World Championship Barcelona 2023 being a world reference for new technologies applied to the world of sailing.

This effort is in line with the aim of promoting the nautical environment of Barcelona and its surroundings, and to continue working to be a benchmark in the training of sailors, which has made them the Spanish representative in the European Dream Cup, organised by the European Union and its Erasmus programme.

For the General Manager of 52 SUPER SERIES, Agustín Zulueta, “this is the first time that a world championship has been held in Barcelona. A TP52 class world championship in Barcelona, and we are delighted that it is in a new, emblematic, and avant-garde venue such as Marina Vela. We are very excited to collaborate with the Club Náutico de Vilassar de Mar. We are convinced that it will be a great event in the city of the America’s Cup”.

During the five days of competition, the races will be broadcast live on the official channels of the circuit (https://www.youtube.com/@52SuperSeries/streams) as well as through its social networks with the profile @52superseries.
