The BASE MINI FNOB REGATA – MARINA VELA BARCELONA TROPHY comes to an end with the same winner as in 2020. The Like Crazy by Fede Waksman and Diego Stefani crossed the finish line yesterday Tuesday in front of Marina Vela Barcelona at 11:55:57 hours in the morning, so the boat repeated last year's first place.
After the stop in the Balearic Islands, the Like Crazy gained positions until the Dragonera pass, where it already crossed leading the fleet. The PROTO Siren of Rudi Van Velzen and Mathieu Damerval alternated position with Like Crazy for a few hours, but from then on Fede Waksman increased his advantage until the end of the race.
Just over an hour behind Like Crazy, in second position, came Candidate Sailing Team, of Christian Kargl and Lisa Berger, who also led the race for some moments in the first part of the race. In third place and first PROTO, Siren, by Rudi Van Velzen and Mathieu Damerval, less than two hours behind the first place finisher.
It should be noted that the decision of the Race Management to stop the fleet for a few hours in the port of Sa Ràpita was the most correct, despite the logistical complications that it implied and that was resolved impeccably by the Club Nàutic de Sa Ràpita. The fleet thus avoided the harshest wind and sea conditions, and took advantage of a south-southwest wind of 15 knots that after Dragonera propelled the boats at good speed towards Barcelona, although with a lot of sea in the first third.
The awards ceremony took place this Tuesday a few minutes after the arrival of the last participant. The Director of Marina Vela Barcelona Fernando Gayá presented the trophies to the first in each category, which consisted of a fun food basket with typical Barcelona products. Port Vell, for its part, gave them a reproduction of the Mirastel, the floating sculpture found in Port Vell, next to the Maremagnum. And Helly Hansen, which also sponsors the regatta, and Base Mini Barcelona, gave a personalized sports bag with the Base Mini Barcelona logo to the first three in each category.
Anna Corbella and Oriol Pujol have received congratulations from all the participants, who wanted to highlight the excellent organization of the regatta and the good welcome that Marina Vela Barcelona has offered them.
