From November 3 to 6, international sailors will compete in high-performance sailing boats, on the same regatta field where the 37th America's Cup will be held.

For four days, From November 3 to 6, Marina Vela Barcelona, ​​in cooperation with the Club Nàutic de Vilassar de Mar, will host one of the most important nautical sporting events on the international calendar, the final of the Youth Foiling Gold Cup 69F. Becoming the prelude to the next Copa América to be held in Barcelona 2024. 

The 9 competing teams are made up of about 40 young international sailors who compete in 6.90 meter long carbon monohulls, the Persico 69F. A cutting-edge sailing vessel at a technological level, which allows the highest levels of performance and safety to be combined.

Director of Marina Vela Barcelona, ​​Alberto García, the president of the Vilassar de Mar Nautical Club, Jesús Majem and the international director of the Gold Cup 69F, Giorgio Benussi, presented the details of the final of the 69F Cup, in Marina Vela Barcelona. 

Alberto García, director of Marina Vela, stated that “we are happy to host the new edition of the 69F since it perfectly meets our objectives. At Marina Vela Barcelona we are undoubtedly committed to recreational boating as an increasingly socially, economically, and environmentally sustainable activity. Sailing and supporting the development of increasingly efficient engines powered by renewable energies is in our DNA. In this sense, it should be noted that at Marina Vela we are working to be the first Marina Deportiva in Barcelona with a charger for 100% electric boats. 

Alberto García added that “we are a young company that increasingly has more and better nautical events, favored by the ease that Marina Vela's position provides for access to the open sea, as well as by the quality of the services provided by the companies. nautical companies that have decided to locate their headquarters in our Marina, firmly betting on this project”

Jesús Majem highlighted how important it is for the Club Nautic Vilassar de Mar to organize this regatta,  since “foil is the present of sailing” and is in line with the events that the club is organizing, such as the first Catalan Wingfoil Cup held last weekend. Furthermore, Jesús Majem added the importance of this type of nautical events for the club's sailors, since one of the teams participating in the 69F final is made up of sailors from the Club. “Which is an extra motivation, since the Vilassar Nautic Club is a source of top-level sailing professionals.”

Giorgio Benussi highlighted the importance of holding the final in Barcelona, ​​“which is and will be the capital of world sailing with the celebration of the Copa América.” “We want the 69F final to have an annual event on the international calendar, and for Barcelona to be its stage for the next few years, during the years that the Copa América is held.
