The Base Mini FNOB Trofeo Marina Vela regatta, the most important of its kind this year in the Mediterranean, will set sail on Friday, April 9, to travel 400 miles, leaving from Barcelona to the Balearic Islands, and then returning again to Barcelona, and will feature experienced sailors, such as Dídac Costa and Gerard Marín.
From April 5 to 13 it will take place the new edition of the Mini FNOB Trofeo Marina Vela Base Regatta, organized by Club de Mar Port Olímpic, the Fundació Navegació Oceànica de Barcelona (FNOB), the delegation of the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation and with the collaboration of the Base Mini Barcelona, Marina Vela Barcelona and the Club Nàutic Sa Ràpita. The regatta will bring together national and international participants, when the Mini Transat will be held next September.
The participants will settle in Marina Vela Barcelona the days before the departure, which will be on Friday, April 9 at 12 noon. For 5 days, participants will travel 400 miles, leaving from Barcelona to pass through the Balearic Islands, between the islands of Dragonera, Cabrera (passing through La Ràpita), Tagomago and Columbretes.
In this edition, two sailors closely linked to Barcelona and the FNOB will participate. Didac Costa He will compete in his first regatta after his brilliant participation for the second time in the Vendée Globe, the non-stop solo round-the-world race. AND Gerard Marin, with two trips around the world in the Barcelona World Race in 2009 and 2014. Gerard will participate aboard the first Mini 6,50 built at the FNOB Ocean Base. A prototype with a Lombard design with which Gerard hopes to do well in the Mini Transat, which will set sail from France in September, heading to the Caribbean alone.
Marina Vela Barcelona thus consolidates itself as a reference in the support of ocean sailing. Its commitment is clear to support the mini class, being the headquarters for its training throughout the year, thus contributing to consolidating Barcelona as the largest training center for the mini 6,50 class in the Mediterranean.
